WikiLeaks is getting crypto donations despite Satoshi Nakamoto disputing such an occurrence in the past. Cryptocurrencies are increasingly becoming more viable sources of revenue for many non-profit international organizations and charitable firms.
WikiLeaks, one of the world’s most popular international non-profit organizations, is among the crypto beneficiaries, having received more than $2.2 million of its donations in crypto to date.
The media leaks platform was founded in 2006 by an Australian activist, publisher, and editor, Julian Paul Assange, who is currently remanded at Belmarsh prison. Assange was arrested back in 2019 in London to face legal charges of conspiring to hack into a Pentagon computer network in 2010.
WikiLeaks is renowned for publishing sensitive information on several leaks and classified media from anonymous sources. In that case, many payments firms, including Visa, MasterCard, and AmEx, have blocked WikiLeaks from receiving their services.
But remarkably, cryptocurrency has remained the only form of currency facilitating services without censorship or discrimination.
According to the official website, WikiLeaks currently accepts donations from crypto options including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, ZCash, and Ethereum.
The organization has successfully garnered a total of 30.45 BTC to date, currently worth $1.5 million in its Bitcoin address. It has also received another 225.2 BCH worth $101,800 in Bitcoin Cash address and another 0.25 BCH for the same address.
On the other hand, the Litecoin address has received a total of 163.07 LTC, which is currently worth around $25,680, with the ZCash address getting 84.01 ZEC worth $13,800.
The Ethereum address appeared the second most preferred donation destination with 145.45ETH worth $587,883 to date. In that context, the cumulative sum of the crypto donations is more than $2.2 million.

In October 2017, the founder Julian Assange confirmed that WikiLeaks made a 50,000% return on Bitcoin after an investment in 2010.
At the time, Bitcoin was valued at around $5,000 before surging further to bring the investment closer to something like 200K% ROI after the flagship cryptocurrency exploded to peak at around $20K.
However, ROI would be even higher as the biggest crypto is currently oscillating around $48,000 at the time of publishing.
Elsewhere, reports have also emerged that the WikiLeaks founder is diagnosed with stroke illness at Belmarsh maximum prison, where he is currently on remand.
