Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is the first information distribution protocol that experienced massive adoption throughout the internet. The project appears ready to take on Web3 with a decentralized information processing protocol known as RSS3.
In a technical whitepaper released on February 7, 2022, RSS3 laid out plans to take its popular internet feed update to Web3. RSS3 may offer each entity an RSS3 file that might act as source data and be updated constantly.
The source data file then can be utilized as an aggregation of all the cyber activities that can then be used in the creation of games, content networks, social media, and many other data-driven applications. This source data would have control on what information to broadcast and which to keep private.
RSS3 Operations
RSS is a feed file that has a summary of a site’s updates, normally in a list of articles that have hyperlinks. The feed files were meant to become decentralized and played an integral role in exchanging information across the entire internet. Nonetheless, the monopoly of centralized web hosting services providers has resulted in the creation of the decentralized RSS3.
The official paper noted that creating a decentralized information processing protocol from the ground was quite a challenging task and might take another six to eight months for developing RSS3 nodes. Developers are in the process of creating a DAO system as well but think that a real decentralization would take time.
