Blockchain technology might account for around 30% of Montenegro’s GDP or more within three years, becoming as significant as the tourism market, according to Finance Minister Milojko Spajic. Spajic was speaking in an interview with Mina Business news outlet.
He also stated that the sector has the potential to employ nearly 10,000 people and eventually become an integral cornerstone for the economy together with tourism and energy. Spajic explained:
“I think that within three years blockchain can comprise around 30% of the Montenegrin economy, contributing by an additional €1.5bn-2bn to the gross domestic product.”
According to the minister, the growth of the blockchain sector might result in major hikes in pensions, wages, and social payments.
