Last week, Congress approved a $750 million transfer from Department of Defense war funds to the struggle to contain Ebola in West Africa.
That move has pushed the United States to the top of the Ebola donation league by a considerable distance, ahead of the World Bank and the United Kingdom who have contributed $400 million and $201 million respectively.
Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, have donated $25 million. Among the world’s most significant donors, their money has gone to the CDC Foundation which is organizing donations for the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to combat the outbreak.
