Econintersect: Eight of ten major markets in Europe had substantial gains Thursday, March 17. Four had gains greater than 2% and three more had gains above 1.4%. The strongest bourses were Oslo and Paris (+2.4% each), Madrid (+2.3%) and Frankfurt (+2%).The two weakest markets were Geneva, with a gain of 0.9% and Vienna, the lone loser, down 0.3%. Other markets with gains were London and Amsterdam (+1.8% each), Stockholm (+1.7%) and Brussels (+1.4%).
