Most World Stock Markets Had a Bad Week

Econintersect:  The thirty market indexes followed by GEI were all down last week except for Norway,  The Oslo market eked out a gain of 0.8% on the strength of the nation’s stautus as an oil exporter.  Oil closed the week at a 2 1/2 year closing high.  See first GEI source link below.

The worst performing index last week was the Dow Jones Transports, followed by three European bourses (Frankfurt, Vienna and Brussels) and then by three Asian markets (Tokyo, Mumbai and Taiwan).  Click “Read more” to see ranking tables for markets last week and YTD.The following table shows the 30 market indexes tracked ranked by last week’s performance.

The YTD rankings still have Madrid at the top and Mumbai at the bottom, same as last week.  Most notable change is that the number of indexes down for the year increased in the past week from nine to twelve.
