After unveiling plans to go into crypto in September 2021, the US Figure Skating now accepts Bitcoin donations. The United States’ national governing body for the sport of figure skating has become the latest organization in the US to enable donations in cryptos like Bitcoin (BTC).
This association has partnered with the enterprise-level donation platform Engiven to begin accepting gifts and donations in crypto, the U.S. Figure Skating announced on February 8. The organization originally revealed its plans to enable crypto donations in September last year.
The new donation payment option is now available on the U.S. Figure Skating’s website through Engiven’s platform, featuring donations in major cryptos like Ether, Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and stablecoins like PAX Gold (PAXG) and USD Coin (USDC). The association’s website reads:
“U.S. Figure Skating now allows gifts of cryptocurrency for any of its major funds. Gifts of cryptocurrency are eligible for tax relief and can help U.S. Figure Skating to create programming for athletes.”
Based on the announcement, Engiven automatically exchanges donated cryptocurrency into the US dollar, transferring the funds instantly to US Figure Skating. The announcement further notes:
Buy Bitcoin Now“U.S. Figure Skating is the first national governing body in the U.S. that will accept gifts in multiple cryptos.”
Ramsey Baker, U.S. Figure Skating executive director, said that the introduction of the donation segments comes in line with the association continuing to seek new and innovative methods to offer funding to its clubs, athletes, initiatives, and programs.
“Allowing our supporters to give to U.S. Figure Skating using cryptocurrency makes sense in today’s quickly changing financial marketplace.”
Baker said that the more the methods available for current and new donors to support the organization, the more United States Figure Skating could directly support the athletes and the many programs that serve its members.
