The tension is rising. Is it time for a wardrobe change? The radar in this article will allow readers to track the storm which recently looked like it would cause a cloudy morning Sunday to now looking like it might be clear by then. So have fun with this.

If Phil is to take a peak at 7:30 am on Sunday, I think that is 12:30 pm Zulu time. So please take that into account.
Where is the Borough of Punxsutawney, Pa? First we look at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to find Jefferson County.
And the town of Punxsutawney is midway along the southern border of Jefferson County.
If you want to go there, it is 84 miles northeast of Pittsburgh and 50 miles northwest of Altoona. The town was incorporated in 1850. With a population of 5,962 as of the 2010 census, Punxsutawney is the largest incorporated municipality in Jefferson County. They may hold the record for the shortest tourist season in America….but I have not verified that.

This is only looking out four weeks, not six but it seems to suggest that NOAA is thinking that it will be a short winter and thus Phil should not see his shadow but we have some questions on this forecast and it might be an artist error showing California and Nevada warm rather than cool. Or I might be reading the NOAA discussions incorrectly.
At any rate, watch the radar maps and see if you can discern the groundhog’s shadow (or lack thereof) before Punxsutawney Phil himself does.
