No US China trade deal!  Just threats of more tariffs – quelle surprise. After Tesla made a surprise profit and announced cash in the bank, I’m glad I held onto 6 Shares ” they are going to make me indescribably wealthy in dotage (dream on…) After not watching the indescribably awful Boris vs Corbyn debate last night (I tried, but it was just too painful), I am wondering why we put our trust in such frankly terrible people?  I guess it’s because we share their worst characteristics and aspirations ¦. I did watch a masterclass on comparative media-handling skills this morning; a very erudite and engaging chap from the SNP sat on the Brek-drek couch, held an open and engaging posture, listened to the presenters, nodding in agreement with them, kept calm, considered and answered conversationally, all the while still giving the same response about it being Scotland’s right to another referendum to every question. He was good. Then some dimwit Tory/Labour spokesperson proceeded to talk down to the presenter, ranted combatively about how Corbyn/Boris said something they didn’t, and treated everyone with disdain. She seemed to think constantly repeating the same stock answer made what she was declaring fact.  This election just ain’t working for me ¦ ¦Â So, lets get back to business and talk about finance and markets ¦ Aviat … |

And that approach is: Blame Rudy. Sondland alleges that he, Energy Secretary Rick Perry, and others were ordered by President Trump to work with Giuliani on all things Ukraine-related. And that they followed those orders so as not to miss the opportunity to cement closer relations between the US and Ukraine. Sondland also blamed Giuliani for the quid pro quo with the Ukrainians, as they sought an Oval Office meeting with President Trump. The entirety of Sondland’s opening remarks have now been leaked to the press. Read a summary here. Read the entirety of his remarks below: Opening Statement of Ambassador Gordon D by |
![]() | Rabobank: “An Objective Analysis Of Impeachment Shows Very Little Damage To Trump So Far”Rabobank: “An Objective Analysis Of Impeachment Shows Very Little Damage To Trump So Far” Submitted by Michael Every of Rabobank Having started yesterday’s Daily œThere was more bad trade news for markets to focus on yesterday, it was of course inevitable that today’s Daily would have to start œThere was more good trade news for markets to focus on yesterday. Such seems to be the bipolar cycle of reporting on this topic which is, apparently, more important to the imminent health of the global economy than anything and everything. As I have tried to make clear here many times before, the trade war is not the main reason why the global economy has been slowing, and will slow further into 2020. But moving on ¦ That’s after Bloomberg again reports the US and China are considering a roll-back of at least some of the existing US tariffs in place as part of a œphase one trade deal. The long, rambling piece, which needs an editor more than the average Global Daily does, underlines that perhaps–perhaps!–the December US tariffs might not be imposed (which would not be a huge surprise), and the recent September tariffs might be removed, in exchange for ¦something. What that is exactly is still not clear, beyond the magic word œagri (and the hidden magic word œelection ). Some serious horse-trading is underway both within the White House and between Washington DC and Beijing. Yet this may already have been eclipsed by the action of the US Senate, which in a unanimous vocal œYes/No vote Wednesday morning Asian time (6PM EDT in the US), passed a bill supporting … |
