The third largest player in the worldwide tobacco market, British American Tobacco (NYSE:BAT), has announced to take over the fourth largest firm Reynolds Tobacco.

BAT had already been a major stakeholder (42.2 percent) of Reynolds and now wants to pay $49.4 billion for its complete acquisition.
