After bargaining hard for months, German chemical giant Bayer has closed a deal to take over the American agrochemical corporation Monsanto.
It took more than one round of intensive talks and rejections by the US firm’s management to seal the deal.
Bayer had to up the ante several times until Monsanto couldn’t resist the proposal, as the chart below illustrates. The deal is the biggest international takeover by a German corporation. Now it’s up to Monsanto’s stakeholders to give their thumbs-up to the deal.
