Even though most car trips are uneventful, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that in 2015, the latest year for which full data is available, there were nearly 6.3 million crashes reported to the police, more than 32,000 of which were fatal. These statistics highlight how important it is to carry adequate auto insurance, and, given the likelihood of getting into an accident, the more coverage you have, the better.
