Tokyo Olympics 2020 closed on August 8, 2021. I thoroughly enjoyed it by spending numerous hours watching, just as I did with all the recent Olympics!

I love the Olympics – I think the Olympic spirit represents the best of mankind: peace and the demonstration of excellence in athletic ability & beauty! This is particularly poignant today, as the world is so full of conflicts, especially the one between the U.S. and China (America’s Unholy Crusade Against China).
1. 2008 Olympics and my writing career
I started writing on politics in 2008, thanks to 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics! Below is an excerpt from my life story (My American Dream Has Come True):
It really started in April 2008, after a sports writer at the Chicago Tribune wrote a nasty article about China’s preparation for the Beijing Olympics. It was so unfair and irresponsible that I thought “he is not going to get away with it without hearing from me.” So, I wrote him an email, and heated email exchanges ensued. When it was all said and done, I realized that the entire chain of emails could be a good material for customer education. So, I emailed it to my customers and prospects. To my surprise, far more of them than I expected were sympathetic to my cause. More importantly, they found my writings interesting and educational. So, I just followed with more writings and more emails. It’s totally out of control now: I have published more than 600 articles and three books!
2. My writings on recent Olympics
Below are my four publications on the past four Olympics:
- 8/17/2012: Olympics, Economies, and The Next American President.
- 2/26/2014: The 2014 Sochi Olympics.
- 8/24/2016: Rio Olympics 2016 and More.
- 2/27/2018: The 2018 Winter Olympics.
Below is an excerpt from article #1 above:
I predict China will win more medals than the U.S. in the [Summer] Olympics by 2030, when China’s economy will surpass the U.S. economy.
I stand by this prediction.
3. Tokyo Olympics 2020
The Olympics have always been a microcosm of the world, for bad (e.g. 1936 Summer Olympics) or good (e.g. 2008 Summer Olympics). This one was no exception.
One of the biggest deals for the Olympics is the medal table: Your country’s rank in the medal table is far more than a bragging right (see image below) – It actually reflects, largely, your country’s economic standing in the world!
For more, read: U.S. rallies to top China in Tokyo Olympics gold medal tally.
The table below lists the top four medal winners in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The table below lists the top four medal winners in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Two notes: from 2016 to 2020
- The U.S. has declined some, while China has gained some.
- Russia and the U.K. remain top 4.
Question: Will the U.K. or Russia ever threaten America to top the medal table?
No, not in my lifetime, at least!
So, from now on until 2028, the race to, or remain in, the top will be between the U.S. and China, just like the economy!
My prediction: China will be on the top in medal counts (e.g., gold and overall) by 2028, just like the economy!
4. Closing
Long live the Olympics!
