Starting with President FDR, most American Presidents have emphasized their first 100 days in office. President Biden is no exception (President Joe Biden delivers his first State of the Union address).
With everybody assessing his first 100 days (e.g., Biden beats Trump in poll of first 100 days by 12 points and The three striking similarities between FDR and Biden), I would like to chip in my two cents as well: B!

0. Overview
Like many Americans, I voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 election for one main reason: he is not Donald Trump. Additionally, I hope my numerous anti-Trump publications (e.g., Why Did President Trump Call Coronavirus “Chinese Virus”? and President Trump Unmasked!) made a difference for Biden in the 2020 general election.
Like most anti-Trump supporters, I have no regret, so far, in voting for Biden.
Here is how I grade his first 100 days in office:
Specifically, below are five big categories:
- Restoring normalcy: A.
- Covid-19: A.
- Domestic policy: B.
- Foreign policy: D.
- Political reforms: F.
Let me elaborate on each …
1. Restoring normalcy: A
Many Americans are so fed up with Trump’s unorthodox and unintelligent Presidency that just by not being Trump, Biden not only won the 2020 election, but also sailed through his first 100 days in the White House without needing to do much!
But he has done a lot …
2. Covid-19: A
Overall, President Biden has done an excellent job on Covid-19, which can be highlighted as follows:
- Containment: His compassion and commonsense approach have worked out very well.
- Vaccines: Although they were developed on President Trump’s watch, the Biden administration has done a far better job than the previous administration in boosting the production and managing the distribution.
- Vaccination: It was a great achievement to have administered 200 million shots within his first 100 days! Because of that, Americans are now looking forward to having a “normal” Independence Day on July 4, 2021!
3. Domestic policy: B
All signs indicate President Biden is just yet another mediocre President in the making. Three examples:
- Biden requests $753B defense budget, a slight increase. So, instead of cutting the outrageously big military spending, he has simply chosen to go along with The Evil Military-Industrial Complex.
- By The Numbers: Biden’s $2 trillion Infrastructure Plan. Good luck in passing this huge spending bill in Congress in the coming months!
- Border Crisis: President Biden has neither a plan nor any real solution.
4. Foreign policy: D
Two examples:
- Ending the war in Afghanistan is good, although President Trump deserves more credit for setting this in motion (Biden faces Trump’s deadline on Afghanistan troop withdrawal: ‘Any way you cut it, we are headed for a messy outcome’). For more, read A Culture of War in America?
- His administration has already fumbled badly on China (and Russia). See video below – Secretary of State Tony Blinken seems to be in a race to the bottom with Mike Pompeo, by shamelessly playing pure American politics, without diplomacy, with China.
The short video below highlights America’s long-term strategy on China: Trying to slow her down by throwing rocks at her, one after another …
5. Political reforms: F
America is desperately in need of political reforms, as I have suggested (An Open Letter to President Biden). But President Biden has yet to listen.
Worse yet, Biden says he plans to run for reelection in 2024.
Why is it so bad?

6. Discussion
No Biden, without Trump!
What ended the Trump Presidency?
Covid-19!
Because the Biden administration has done an excellent job on Covid-19, America may have already got the maximal return from the 2020 election. The Biden administration from now on is likely to be a continuation of the Obama administration, which failed so badly by 2016 that Americans were willing to take a chance at a very flawed person named Donald Trump …
Here are two biggest challenges for America to be truly great again:
- Political reforms at home.
- Reducing America’s empire footprints abroad.
Let me briefly elaborate on each …
6.1 Political reforms at home
Read my new book: History 2.0 – China’s Comeback vs. America’s Decline.
6.2 Reducing America’s empire footprints abroad
Here is a recent news story showing how brainless America has become: UK and US urge G7 to ally against threats from Russia and China. It has absolutely no confidence in America’s ability to compete against China, resorting to the Cold War scheme.
Here is a big problem for a new Cold War initiated by America:
- Putin: Russia-China military alliance can’t be ruled out.
- China Backs Russia After Putin Warns West They’ll Regret Crossing ‘Red Line’.

6.3 Summary
The Biden administration may already have peaked in performance, because it is unlikely to address either challenges.
7. Closing
The bar for measuring the greatness of an American President is very low (American Presidency: Let’s Redefine It, Now!). I have, therefore, very generously given President Biden “B” for his overall performance so far.
