Here is the simple answer: It was first “detected” in Wuhan, China in November 2019, but was likely to have “originated” outside of China (e.g. the U.S.) many years ago!

1. Bad news: its origin remains unknown, but it is under diligent investigations.
2. Good news: It can, and will, be scientifically proven in the coming years, as we search for vaccines!
