Super Tuesday is just around the corner. Let’s compare two Democratic front-runners: Bernie Sanders and Mike Bloomberg.
Simply put, Bernie is a self-proclaimed “democratic socialist”, while Mike is a “democratic capitalist”. I am for the latter!

1. Who is Bernie Sanders?
Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia – Bernie Sanders.
Bernard Sanders (born September 8, 1941) is an American politician who has served as the junior United States Senator from Vermont since 2007 and as U.S. Representative for the state’s at-large congressional district from 1991 to 2007. Sanders is the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, though he has a close relationship with the Democratic Party, having caucused with House and Senate Democrats throughout most of congressional career.[2] Sanders ran unsuccessfully for the 2016 Democratic nomination for president and is running again in 2020. Prior to entering both races, he pledged to serve as a Democrat if elected president.
2. Who is Mike Bloomberg?
Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia – Michael Bloomberg.
Michael Rubens Bloomberg (born February 14, 1942) is an American businessman, politician, philanthropist, and author. He is the majority owner and co-founder of Bloomberg L.P. He was the mayor of New York City from 2002 to 2013 and is currently a candidate in the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.
3. What is a “democratic socialist”?
Simply put, a “democratic socialist” in America is a socialist promoting Democratic Socialism.
Unfortunately, most Americans make no difference between (1) socialism and communism, or (2) “socialism” and “democratic socialism” for that matter. Consequently, a socialist is simply a communist by most Americans. It is for this reason, chiefly, that
- Many left-leaning American politicians do not call themselves “socialists”, but “progressives” instead!
- A self-proclaimed “socialist” like Bernie is actually (viewed as) a communist!
4. What is a “democratic capitalist”?
In short, a “democratic capitalist” is a capitalist living in a democracy (i.e. one person, one vote), in contrast to a “non-democratic capitalist” as in China, which is not a democracy.
In China, capitalists have very limited influence over the governance of the country, especially at the top level (i.e. Politburo), because the PRC (People’s Republic of China) was founded by proletarians.
In contrast, America was founded by/of/for the rich and remains so today (Everything You Think You Know About America Is Wrong?). Because of that, American capitalists have always had profound influence over the governance of the country.

There are two types of capitalists in America:
- Capitalists without conscience. A prominent example: Donald Trump, whose Presidency so far has been full of controversies, at least! For more, read: A ‘remarkable universe of criminality’ surrounds Trump.
- Capitalists with conscience. A prominent example: Mike Bloomberg, who has a very good track record serving as the Mayor of New York City for 12 years.
5. Discussion
America is deeply in trouble. “We the People” simply do not know what to do, other than periodically casting our vote of “no confidence” to elect someone, anyone, very different to be the President – first Barack Obama, then Donald Trump. Unfortunately for America, neither has worked out …
Why is that?
America: It’s Democracy, Stupid!
Anyway, it’s time to vote again, by electing a Democrat nominee, who can possibly beat President Trump in the fall.
Who should be that nominee?
Mike Bloomberg, not Bernie Sanders!
The image below is worth more than 1,000 words.
Three highlights:
- What is behind Bernie’s [recent] “surge”? Bernie is on the extreme left, counter-balancing President Trump, who cornered himself to the extreme right at the beginning of his Presidency and has moved more and more to the right since then. For more, read: Trump: Impeached but Acquitted!
- Can Bernie beat Trump in the fall? No! Worse yet, with Bernie as the nominee, the Democratic Party will lose not only to President Trump, but also the House, while the GOP will maintain control in the Senate! Why is that? America remains a center-right country, despite its progression towards more and more democracy (i.e. one person, one vote).
- Mike Bloomberg is at that center!
Why can’t Senator Sanders possibly beat President Trump?
Some cold facts:
- Most Americans dislike socialism.
- Most Americans dislike President Trump.
- Most Americans dislike socialism even more than President Trump!
The image below says a lot about Bernie …
The image below says a lot about Bernie’s voters …
The student loan is a BIG problem. But Senator Sanders has no real solution to it, while Mayor Bloomberg does!
Bottom line: Be like Mike, not Bernie!
Now, how can Mayor Bloomberg beat President Trump?
Easy – Here is how:
Two specific highlights in terms of Bernie vs. Mike:
- Bernie is a career politician, with little achievement. Bernie is part of the problem!
- Mike is a self-made man, with an excellent track record of public service! Mike could be the solution for America: reforming our failing political system, as I have suggested (American Democracy – Why is it failing & how to fix it?).
6. Closing
Mike Bloomberg is a real, and rare, deal not only for the Democratic Party, but also for America. Let’s give him a chance!
Vote on Super Tuesday!
Vote for Mike!
