Many Americans religiously believe that (1) communism is bad – China is bad because it is communism, and (2) democracy is good – America is good because it is a democracy.
What if America is actually more communistic than China, thanks to democracy?

Three examples to demonstrate that America is actually more communistic than China:
- Private-sector unions
- Public-sector unions
- Welfare.
Let me elaborate on each …
1. Private-sector unions
Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia – 2019 General Motors strike.
The 2019 General Motors strike began September 15th, 2019, with the walkout of 48,000 United Automobile Workers from some 50 plants in the United States. Demands by workers included increased job security, gateway for temporary workers to become permanent, better pay and retaining healthcare benefits.
Strikes in a mega company like GM are extremely rare, if not non-existent, in China. Two main reasons:
- In the [state] capitalistic China, employers often have more power than employees, with the capitalistic bottom line: if you are so good, why do not you become an employer?
- Employees do have grievances. But they are typically addressed and often resolved via government mediation before a strike is necessary.

2. Public-sector unions
Here is a recent news story: A day without teachers: 32,000 educators in Chicago went on strike. Below is an excerpt:
CHICAGO – Students flocked to camps, friends’ houses, safe havens and bowling alleys on Thursday as about 32,000 Chicago Public Schools teachers and aides went on strike in the nation’s third-largest school district.
While parents scrambled to find places for their children, attitudes toward the strike — at least those expressed publicly — remained split. Many said they wanted teachers to be paid well and wanted the schools to have more support staff in the form of nurses and school psychologists, a key demand of the union.
Public-sector unions are so communistic that they have never been, nor will they ever be, allowed in the People’s Republic of China!
Why are there public-sector unions in America? Blame JFK (Executive Order 10988)!

What’s so wrong about them? Read: Detroit, Public-Sector Unions, and JFK.
3. Welfare
Any question that the U.S. is a welfare state?
I bet not.

Two types of extreme welfare in the U.S.:
- Welfare for the poor. Read: New Slavery in America: Pay without Work!
- Welfare for the rich. Read: The Evil Military-Industrial Complex.
China will never become a welfare state like the U.S.! Two main reasons:
- Welfare for the poor: China follows the basic communistic dilemma: From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs. So, every able body in China must work for a living!
- Welfare for the rich: In China, the political power rests at the Politburo, over which the rich has zero direct policy influence! More profoundly, the PRC was founded by/of/for the people (i.e. rich and poor), while the U.S. was founded by/of/for the rich and remains so to date! 4. Discussion
China calls itself a “socialist country with Chinese characteristics”. However, to many Americans, China is simply communist for two main reasons:
- Most Americans make no difference between socialism and communism.
- The ruling party in China is called the “Communist Party of China” (or CPC), which gives China-haters in America a convenient way to bashing China.
Two important points:
- China is not really communist per se. For more, read: “Communist China”, Really?
- Communism may not be as bad as many Americans religiously believe, especially when compared with the brutality of American capitalism (American Capitalism Is Brutal. You Can Trace to the Planation) and the stupidity of American democracy (America: It’s Democracy, Stupid!).
For more, read: What If Karl Marx Was Right, Mostly?
In contrast, America calls itself a democracy (i.e. one person, one vote), in danger of losing the last safe-guard against it: the Electoral College (Warren calls for eliminating the Electoral College).
Now, what is the relationship between democracy and socialism (further to communism)?
Read the image below!

As a matter of fact, American democracy looks more and more like [the old and bad] communism! Below are eight similarities between them.
- Destruction of capitalism
- Brainwashing
- Ideology
- Kleptocracy
- ‘You Didn’t Build That’
- Stupidity
- Patriotism
- Utopia.
America, reform our failing political system, as I have suggested (American Democracy – Why is it failing & how to fix it?), or become a fiddle, second to China!
5. Closing
Communism is bad. Fortunately for China, it is not communism per se!
Democracy is also bad. Unfortunately for America, it is actually more communistic than China in many ways, thanks to democracy!
