- Asia Pacific stocks edge up as US announces some tariff delays (CNBC) Stocks in Asia Pacific edged up on Wednesday as the U.S. announced a delay in the implementation of tariffs on some Chinese goods. The U.S. dollar index was flat at 97.768 after surging from levels below 97.5 yesterday. Brent crude futures slid 0.93% to $60.73 per barrel. U.S. crude futures fell 1.3% to $56.36 per barrel. Spot gold was down 0.1% at $1,499.89 per ounce, as of 0716 GMT. U.S. gold futures were down 0.2% at $1,510.80 an ounce. Treasury yields were lower.

- A spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry claimed Tuesday that recent comments from American lawmakers demonstrate that Washington’s real goal is to incite chaos in the city.
- A host of public statements show it’s accurate to say American officials have been commenting about Hong Kong – which has seen increasing violence between pro-democracy protesters, counter-protesters, and police.
