35th Portier Lecture: “White Trash: The 400-Year History of Class in America”
The history of white trash in America goes back to the first colonies in Plymouth and Jamestown and the class of poor whites has held a major position throughout the colonial and national history of the part of the continent which has become the United States. The lecture is presented by Nancy Isenberg, the T. Harry Williams Professor of History at Louisiana State University, and was presented 29 October 2015 at Spring Hill College, Mobile Alabama.
