- China’s stocks rise as data shows lowest quarterly growth in 27 years (CNBC) Chinese stocks recovered from an earlier slip to finish the trading day higher on Monday, following the release of GDP data that showed the Chinese economy growing at its slowest pace in at least 27 years. Japanese markets were closed for holiday and other Asian markets were mostly higher. The U.S. dollar index was higher at 96.808 but below highs highs above 97.5 seen last week. Brent crude futures rose fractionally to $66.76 per barrel and U.S. crude futures declined slightly to $60.16 per barrel. Spot gold was down 0.3% at $1,410.73 per ounce, as of 0437 GMT. U.S. gold futures were up 0.1% at $1,413 an ounce. Treasury yields were higher.

- Trump’s Iran policy ‘diplomatic vandalism’, leaked UK cables say (Financial Times) Donald Trump pulled the US out of the nuclear deal with Iran as an act of spite towards his predecessor Barack Obama, according to Britain’s outgoing ambassador to Washington in a second disclosure of leaked cables. The Mail on Sunday published further correspondence from Kim Darroch in spite of a controversial Metropolitan Police warning that the media should desist from publishing the leaked information. - Jeffrey Epstein Was a ‘Terrific Guy,’ Donald Trump Once Said. Now He’s ‘Not a Fan.’ (The New York Times) A 1992 party for “dignitaries” was organized at Donald Trump’s request at Mar-a-Lago in 1992. There ware 28 girls flown in for entertainment. Turned out the only “dignitaries” (or any other guest for that matter) were Trump himself and Jeffrey Epstein.
