Theoretical physics deals with descriptions of phenomena which are described in spatial dimensions greater than the three that humans perceive. How can things exist that we cannot see? Not necessarily because they are microscopic or so large that the boundaries are too distant, although both of those are possible scenarios. But those two possibilities do not exclude others.
