Two events happened recently:
- On June 19, 2018, the U.S. withdrew from the U.N. Human Rights Council (U.S. Quits UN Human Rights Council, Saying It’s Anti-Israel).
- The crisis at our southern border (At Mexico border, US mayors say humanitarian crisis persists).
So, there is no better time than now to talk about the subject of human rights.

Simply put, “human rights” is yet another big and fat western lie, next to western [liberal] democracy. It is therefore falling just like western democracy. Let me explain.
1. What is “human rights”?
Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia – Human rights.
Human rights are moral principles or norms[1] that describe certain standards of human behavior and are regularly protected as natural and legal rights in municipal and international law.[2] They are commonly understood as inalienable,[3] fundamental rights” to which a person is inherently entitled simply because she or he is a human being”[4]and which are “inherent in all human beings”,[5] regardless of their nation, location, language, religion, ethnic origin or any other status.[3] They are applicable everywhere and at every time in the sense of being universal,[1] and they are egalitarian in the sense of being the same for everyone.[3] They are regarded as requiring empathy and the rule of law[6] and imposing an obligation on persons to respect the human rights of others,[1][3] and it is generally considered that they should not be taken away except as a result of due process based on specific circumstances;[3] for example, human rights may include freedom from unlawful imprisonment, torture and execution.[7]
2. Why is “human rights” a big and fat western lie?
In a previous post (History 2.0: Western Liberal Democracy is a Big and Fat Lie!), I argued that western [liberal] democracy is a big and fat lie, totally inapplicable to the rest, for one main reason: It was built on top of capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism, without which western democracy has failed everywhere (e.g. Egypt and Turkey), without exception. Worse yet, it is even failing in the West.
For the same reason, this “human rights” thing is also a big and fat lie. The rest of the world cannot afford it, because of the lack of the excessive richness the West enjoys as a result of colonialism and imperialism over the past several hundred years.
On the contrary, the rest of the world has a very basic issue to address: poverty. To solve the poverty problem first and then rise up, the rest needs capitalism and order, not chaos (i.e. democracy) and human rights per se!
Better yet, there is now a real model for the rest to follow: state capitalism, exemplified by China!
Specifically, China has lifted some 600 million people out of poverty over the past four decades, with a burgeoning middle class. It is such a huge change for mankind that it is shifting the balance of power from the West to the East, with no end in sight! For more, read: History 2.0: Human Races.
3. Human rights: theory vs. practice
In theory, this human rights thing looks great. In practice, however, it is very problematic. Two highlights:
- It is not even reasonably well practiced in the West, especially in America.
- It has been used by the West as a tool against the rest of the world, such as the war on terror (Jimmy Carter Accuses U.S. of ‘Widespread Abuse of Human Rights) and the attempt to contain China (China accuses US of human rights ‘double-standards’).
Let me give you three big examples …
3.1 America’s inhumane treatment of black Americans at home
Watch the video below.
3.2 America’s inhumane treatment of illegal migrants
If human rights are truly universal, how do you explain the image below?

3.3 America’s mistreatment of China
What is America’s real concern about China? Its record on human rights or its dramatic rise to replace America as the #1 economy in the world? The latter, of course, for the American government, at least! As a result, America has been trying to take down China by any and all means, Tonya Harding style if necessary. For more, read: The U.S. vs. China.
Basic reasoning: if human rights are truly universal, the Chinese should have the same inalienable rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” as we Americans do, right? Specifically, has China done anything wrong on trade? President Trump answered it the best!
Why, then, does America initiate a trade war against China?
3.4 Human rights: the theory may not even be correct!

4. The United Nations
Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia – United Nations.
The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization tasked to promote international cooperation and to create and maintain international order. A replacement for the ineffective League of Nations, the organization was established on 24 October 1945 after World War II with the aim of preventing another such conflict. At its founding, the UN had 51 member states; there are now 193. The headquarters of the UN is in Manhattan, New York City, and is subject to extraterritoriality. Further main offices are situated in Geneva, Nairobi, and Vienna. The organization is financed by assessed and voluntary contributions from its member states. Its objectives include maintaining international peace and security, promoting human rights, fostering social and economic development, protecting the environment, and providing humanitarian aid in cases of famine, natural disaster, and armed conflict. The UN is the largest, most familiar, most internationally represented and most powerful intergovernmental organization in the world.[3]
The UN is mostly democratic (other than the veto power afforded to the big five, for example), with 193 states enjoying equal rights in voting (i.e. one state, one vote).
Of the 193 states in the UN, most belong to the rest (vs. the West). Still wondering about why and how the U.S. is out of the Human Rights Council?
Wonder not – The majority rules!

5. Discussion
The dramatic rise of China over the past four decades not only has rocketed China’s economy to the top of the world (in terms of PPP – purchasing power parity), with no end in sight, but also is ending western dominance over the past 200 years.
What does that mean to the world?
Almost everything, from western liberal democracy (End of Democracy?) to human rights per se (i.e. as defined by the West).
Now, is America, the leader of the West, finished?
No, not yet!
America must reform our failing political system, as I have suggested (see image below), or continue to fail, including more withdrawals from the UN in the coming years.
6. Closing
“Human rights”, as defined by the West, is a big and fat lie, totally inapplicable to the rest!
It’s time for America, the leader of the West, to save itself first before worrying about the rest in the name of humanity. Specifically, we must reform our failing political system, starting with a holistic self-examination, from liberal democracy to human rights. Now, please sit back and enjoy the video below, which shows how bad the “swamp” in America is …
