America: Guns vs. Slavery

In solidarity with the student protesters nationwide yesterday, I have decided to compare guns with slavery, up from alcohol (America: Guns vs. Alcohol)!

In other words, the gun issue in America today looks more and more like the slavery issue some 200 years ago. It will surely get worse and worse over time. As a result, the solution may be similar too: it requires a civil war to settle it!

1. Guns

Guns to America is like bread and butter to mankind.

Unfortunately, gun violence has been getting worse and worse, quickly, with no solution in sight.

Here are two main types of gun violence in America:

1. Individual shootings: They happen mostly in the cities (e.g. Chicago), with blacks killing blacks, mostly.
2. Gun massacres: They are carried out mostly by non-blacks.

What do they have in common? The use of guns, largely because of their wide availability!

I predict we, America, will eventually settle the gun issue like we did with slavery in the 1860s: a civil war!
