We hear that unemployment rates are declining and wages are on the rise, but the Civilian Labor Force Participation Rate, which as a measure is more difficult to manipulate, tells a different story.

The U-6 unemployment rate is still bumping up near double digits. And the even more significant are the 20% of men not in the Labor Force Partication rate compared to the level 60 years ago. It is not clear that the low 4.1% U-3 unemployment rate is indicating that we are using anywhere near the full employment potential of the U.S. economy.
