To the world, the biggest news story last week was Defiant Donald Trump confirms US will recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel. To me, it was just yet another unforced error by President Trump. Let me explain …

1. Overview
Let’s look at the highlight of President Trump’s speech.
The issue at hand is very complex. Let me explain it from three big perspectives:
1) Jerusalem.
2) The Mideast.
3) America.
2. Jerusalem
Please watch two short videos from two radically different perspectives (i.e. pro-Israel and pro-Palestine), respectively.
2.1 A short pro-Israel video
2.2 A short pro-Palestine video
3. The Mideast
I have published extensively on the Mideast. Three informative readings:
1) Middle East: Past, Present, and Future.
2) The Middle East ABC for Americans.
3) The Middle East without America?
Bottom line: While it was necessary to help the Jews find a home after WWII, it was unwise for the U.N. to establish the State of Israel in the Mideast in 1948.
In analogy, it would be like moving a large number of American Indians back to New York City, 2000 years from now, declaring that city to be the capital of America, managed by American Indians!
4. America
America has been a staunch supporter of Israel since 1948, to the detriment of America’s self-interest today, especially in terms of terrorism. For example, it is largely for this reason that many Americans still do not understand the real reason behind the 9/11 attack. For more, read: 9/11: Remembered in America, But Not Understood!
As a matter of fact, Jewish influence in American politics is so overwhelming that all recent major American Presidential candidates, in order to have any real chance, must declare their support of Israel, specifically with regard to the recognition of Jerusalem as its capital.
But none has delivered, until now!
1) Why the non-delivery? Because it was not at the best interest of America. In other words, this particular campaign promise was meant to be broken once in office.
2) Why did President Trump deliver this time? Ask him!
Here is my take: Blame our failing political system! Specifically, two points:
1) Donald Trump was inadequately prepared for the top job in our country. For more, read: Inside Trump’s hour-by-hour battle for self-preservation.
2) President Trump: Getting Re-elected Ad Nauseam?
Yet, despite all the problems with the Trump Presidency, if the eletion were held today, I would still vote for Trump, because he is still the lesser of two evils! This speaks louldly about the hopelessness of American democracy. For more, read my latest book.

Two videos …
6. Closing
I believe time will prove that the decision of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital at this time was just yet another unforced error by President Trump.
Now please sit back and enjoy the video below. It was made by some of the most intelligent Americans, for the most intelligent Americans. Are you one of them?
