Last Sunday, ‘60 Minutes‘ aired its interview with Steve Bannon. It offers by far the most candid insight into Donald Trump and his administration. Therefore, it is a must-watch for anybody with any interest in American politics.

The interview has been very well summarized in this article (The 48 most revealing lines of Steve Bannon’s ’60 Minutes’ interview). I just want to respond to eight of the 48 points as follows:
- Point #1: “The Republican establishment is trying to nullify the 2016 election.”
- Point #5: “The swamp is a business model. It’s a successful business model.”
- Point #6: “In the 48 hours after we won, there’s a fundamental decision that was made … We embraced the establishment.”
- Point #11: “I’m worried about losing the House now because of … DACA.”
- Point #16: “Economic nationalism is what this country was built on.”
- Point #29: “The elites in this country have got us in a situation. We’re at not economic war with China. China is at economic war with us.”
- Point #30: “That’s the geniuses of the Bush administration. I hold these people in contempt, total and complete contempt.”
- Point #43: “(General Kelly’s) not going to be able to control it either because it’s Donald Trump.”
1. Point #1: the Republican establishment

2. Point #5: the swamp
President Trump must reform our failing political system, as I have suggested, instead of merely replacing some politicians he does not like. Three informative readings:
3. Point #6: We embraced the establishment

4. Point #11: DACA
It’s easy to blame “other people” for “our” own problems. DACA is a problem, but not an essential one! Very importantly, do not do it at the cost of the GOP losing the majority in the House! Two informative readings:

It’s easy to blame other countries, especially China, for America’s problems. Two informative readings:

9. An additional point
The biggest point the above cited “summary” article missed is James Comey’s firing. Steve Bannon did talk about it in the interview, and regarded it as a big mistake, to which I agree.
