Ahead of Apple’s annual developers conference (WWDC) kicking off on Monday, the company announced that app developers have earned more than $70 billion on the App Store since its inception in 2008.

Having reached $33 billion in August 2015, it took less than two years for App Store revenues to double and the app economy shows no signs of slowing down. According to Apple, downloads have grown by more than 70 percent in the past 12 months.
Considering the cut that Apple takes from App Store sales, iDevice users spent roughly $100 billion on apps and in-app purchases since 2008, which is incredible considering the app economy was unheard of just 10 years ago. At WWDC, Apple invites developers from around the world to exchange ideas, attend workshops and meet Apple engineers.
