The number of female inventors is highest in the USA, according to a report by the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO.
Worldwide, the share of applications with women inventors increased from 17 percent in 1995 to 29 percent in 2015, the report’s authors write.
South East Asia is also one of the top regions where a lot of women seek patents for their ideas. Many European nations follow. Women from the United Kingdom sought about 7,000 patents from 2011 to 2015. “Women contribute to all fields of creativity and intellectual endeavor, highlighting the importance of gender equality for scientific advancement and innovation,” the WIPO report states.
