Workpace chat programs are becoming increasingly popular.

Just last week, Microsoft unveiled “Teams”, its new chatting app for the office. The company is plunging itself into an extremely competitive market, dominated by the likes of Slack and Hipchat. The former program has seen its userbase skyrocket over the last few months.
Since it was founded in late 2013, Slack has become one of the hottest prospects in tech, hitting 4 million users in October of this year. However, while it is still growing, that growth has now started to “slacken”, quite literally. Will Microsoft manage to catch up with Slack’s runaway growth? Time will tell and 2017 is shaping up to be an interesting year for workplace communication programs.
This chart shows daily active and paid Slack users.
