GEI regular contributor Frank Li has a new book published today: American Democracy. This book provides a unique perspective on the USA, its much-admired form of government and challenges to be faced moving forward. All of us at Econintersect are proud of this excellent book and urge our followers to read it. There are some things that may make you squirm and, at the same time, elicit a “why didn’t I see that before!” Whether you agree with what you read or not, you will never have occasion to suffer from any uncertainty about what the author intended. The book is written with a clarity of expression not often found in political discourse.
In American Democracy we find the presentation of a view of American life that can be compared with that by Alexis de Tocqueville nearly 200 years ago. But, Dr. Li’s effort is a more penetrating one; de Tocqueville was merely a visitor to America, whereas Dr. Li is a naturalized citizen and is much more invested in the society he analyzes.
Econintersect Managing Editor, John Lounsbury, wrote the preface for the book. An excerpt:
“In this book, Dr. Li writes about American democracy boldly and artfully with scientific logic, engineering accuracy, American straight-forwardness, and Chinese sophistication, in plain English with great clarity.”
Dr. Lounsbury has also posted a short review at Amazon.
