The Salvation Army reported that it has seen slavery in England and Wales rise almost fivefold since 2012.
The charity supported 1,331 victims of slavery in 2015/16. Of that amount, 502 were male and 829 were female. Home Office figures published earlier this year estimate that there are between 10,000 and 13,000 victims of modern slavery in the UK with about 45 million victims worldwide.
This chart shows the number of female and male modern slavery victims assisted by the Salvation Army.
