Over the 52 weeks ending 30 January 2016, still wine sales in the UK amounted to £3.9 billion.
As the infographic below shows, the country of origin for the most sold wine was Australia – having experienced a growth of £25.6 million to £1 billion. In fact, it was a great year generally for southern hemisphere wine producing countries in the UK with Chile, Argentina, New Zealand the only countries joining Australia on the side of positive growth. Relatively large negative growth was seen in traditionally strong export countries France, Italy and the US.
