In a 2016 report from Tell MAMA, an organisation measuring anti-Muslim attacks, revealed the alarming number and year on year increases seen in the United Kingdom in 2015.
Of the 437 verified incidents, 111 occurred on the street, representing a 326 percent increase on 2014.
The majority of incidents were classified as ‘abusive behaviour’, while assault was the second most common with 74. Women were targeted the most – 61 percent of the time. Online, there was a year on year decrease of 9 percent.
