Over the past decade and a half, college fees have risen 80 percent in the United States.
During the same time frame, median household income fell 7 percent, increasing the huge fiscal impact on American families. The Northern New Mexico College had a 359 percent increase in college fees between 2014-15. In 2014, the average annual cost of tuition at public colleges stood at just over $8,000, according to ProPublica.
