New data from Eurostat has showed the EU countries with the highest rates of naturalisation.

The term refers to the share of foreign citizens acquiring citizenship of EU member states. Sweden had the highest rate of naturalisation in 2013 at 7.6 percent, followed by Hungary and Portugal with 6.5 and 5.9 percent respectively. In 2013, EU member states granted citizenship to around 980,000 people.
