The US Treasury recently announced that Harriet Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill and she will become the first woman featured on US paper currency.
Just how common are women on banknotes around the globe? An analysis by Vox found that women on paper currency are a rarity, present in less than one third of the world’s countries. Some countries have already set good examples, however. In Australia, women are featured on four of the country’s five bank notes.
