Queen Elizabeth II is Britain’s longest reigning monarch and this week marked her 90th birthday.
Many observers predicted that Britain’s monarchy would eventually fall into decline but polls have proved that it is actually flourishing. Ipsos Mori recently found that 76 percent of Britons think their country should remain a monarchy while 17 percent think it should become a republic with an elected president. A large majority of people in the UK also believe that the monarchy has an important role to play in the country’s future.
