Dating apps have somewhat revolutionized the way the world dates today, so if on Valentine’s love isn’t in the air, check on your smartphone!
Millions of people use the apps to overcome social barriers and in some cases their shyness. For some the apps are the big promise of getting to know a partner for life, for others it’s just about satisfying physical needs. (The one doesn’t necessarily exclude the other.)
According to data from the BBC and AppAnnie there are two main contenders whose apps dominate 50 countries worldwide where love is sought after by digital means in 2015: Together Badoo and Tinder are the frontrunners in 39 countries.
Whilst Tinder is the most used app in Canada and the US, farther south Badoo dominates Mexico and Latin America. Tinder has a strong following in India, Australia and New Zealand. Also, Northern Europe is clearly Tinder territory, while Southern and Eastern Europeans turn to Badoo to find love and/or lust.
