This chart shows emergency relocation of refugees from Italy, Greece and Hungary throughout the EU. On Tuesday, a majority of interior ministers voted to relocate 120,000 refugees across the European Union over a two-year timespan.
The divisive plan is dwarfed by the reality of the situation with 438,000 refugees applying for asylum in the EU between January and July of this year alone compared to 571,000 for the whole of last year. Nine countries in central and eastern Europe have been asked to take about 15,000 refugees with Germany and France being allocated significantly more. Denmark, the UK and Ireland have not been included in the list as they have an opt out.
