Here is my 2016 GOP dream team: Kasich-Martinez!
In a previous post (Scott Walker vs. Rand Paul), I stated that “I have narrowed down my vote to two individuals: Governor Scott Walker and Senator Rand Paul“. Since then, not only has John Kasich, Governor of Ohio, officially jumped into the ring, he also was outstanding, both in form and in content, during the first GOP debate on August 6, 2015, although the show was obviously hijacked by Donald Trump in a funny form without any real content! Most importantly, Governor Kasich has demonstrated that he has the necessary credentials, such as a solid track-record as a big-state governor, being a House member for many years with both national and international experiences, and the temperament for the Presidency!
In contrast, both Governor Walker and Senator Paul missed the opportunity during the first debate to be bold and outstanding. But that should surprise no one since both are inexperienced when compared with Governor Kasich!
Look at the current GOP field …
It’s sadly comical and perhaps even insane!
It is comical because anybody can be a Presidential candidate in America, since “it asks far fewer questions than a McDonald’s job application” (So you want to run for president? Just sign here)!
It is insane because the candidates are competing for, and wasting, a lot of resources (e.g. money and attention), that will end up hurting the GOP and the eventual nominee! As an example, read: Mr. Trump: Drop Out, Just Drop Out!
We must make the American Presidency a more serious business (American Presidency: Is It a Joke (II)?)!
A key part of my solution for America (Solution for America (Version 3)) is to raise the statutory requirements for the American Presidency. Two basic requirements:
- Having served as a state governor for one full-term, at least (Chinese Presidency: An Earned Kingship for 10 Years).
- The starting age range should be 55-65 (American Presidency: Starting at Age 55-65!).
Applying just the first requirement, eight out of the 17 candidates would be eliminated! Then applying the second requirement, only three candidates would remain: Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, and John Kasich, as shown below:
Name (alphabetically) | One Full-Term Governorship? | Date of Birth | Age 55-65 (in 2017)? | My Pick |
Jeb Bush | Yes | 2/11/1953 | Yes
Ben Carson | No | |||
Chris Christie | Yes | 9/6/1962 | No (too young)
Ted Cruz | No | |||
Carly Fiorina | No | |||
Jim Gilmore | Yes | 10/6/1949 | No (too old)
Lindsey Graham | No | |||
Mike Huckabee | Yes | 8/24/1955 | Yes
Bobby Jindal | Yes | 6/10/1971 | No (too young)
John Kasich | Yes | 5/13/1952 | Yes | Yes! |
George Pataki | Yes | 6/24/1945 | No (too old)
Rand Paul | No | |||
Rick Perry | Yes | 3/4/1950 | No (too old)
Marco Rubio | No | |||
Rick Santorum | No | |||
Donald Trump | No | |||
Scott Walker | Yes | 11/2/1967 | No (too young) |
It then becomes a no-brainer to choose John Kasich over Jeb Bush (America: Are We Still A Republic?) and Mike Huckabee (too extreme right)!
Now, for my two former favorites, here is my advice:
- Scott Walker: You are clearly #2 now. Please be ready to step up, should something bad happen to John Kasich. Meanwhile, gain more experiences in national and international politics without being silly, such as Scott Walker Calls on Obama to Cancel Chinese State Visit!
- Rand Paul: Prove yourself as a state governor first before running for President again!
Next, why should Governor Kasich pick Susana Martinez, Governor of New Mexico, as his running mate? Two simple reasons:
- She is fully qualified to be the Vice President.
- She can attract many Hispanic votes and women voters!
America is desperately in need of a great peaceful transformational leader like China’s Deng Xiaoping. John Kasich may not have what it takes to be truly Deng-like, but he is certainly the best available in the existing pool!
Most importantly, America can no longer afford to experiment with yet another amateur President!
It’s time for the GOP to rally behind John Kasich, the sooner the better!
