U.S. stocks rose on Wednesday after consumer sentiment data beat expectations, while better-than-expected earnings from Hewlett-Packard fueled the rally by boosting hopes for a robust holiday shopping season. At the close of U.S. trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day up 0.15%, the S&P 500 index rose 0.25%, while the Nasdaq Composite index rose 0.67%.
