Yesterday, Bloomberg released a ranking of the U.S. tech companies with the biggest overseas profit hauls. In first place, we find Microsoft with $76.4 billion in profit outside the United States in 2012.
That represents 20 percent of the $416 billion held by U.S. tech companies in overseas earnings.
IBM comes in second place with $44.4 billion, followed by Cisco Systems ($41.3 billion) and Apple ($40.4 billion). According to Bloomberg,
“it’s estimated that American corporations have more than $2 trillion in offshore earnings that are not being taxed by the U.S.”
