Last year, when Netflix earned its first Emmy nominations for House of Cards, Arrested Development and Hemlock Grove, nobody really knew what to make of the new kid on the block.
Netflix ended up winning three minor categories and seemed content to having been invited to the party at all.
When this year’s Emmys will be awarded in two weeks, things will be a little different. Netflix has proven it is here to stay: With Orange Is the New Black the company has a second hit series beside House of Cards and it recently surpassed HBO in subscriber revenue, a milestone that CEO Reed Hasting was proud to announce on Facebook.
With 31 nominations, Netflix more than doubled its nomination tally from last year and is all but locked in to win its first Emmy in a major category this year. With 12 nominations, Orange Is the New Black earned more nods than any other comedy and House of Cards (13 nominations) is a favorite to win best-drama accolades.
This chart shows the 12 networks with the most nominations at the 2014 Emmy Awards.
