Forbes has compiled a list of the wealthiest families in the United States – 185 dynasties in all with a collective fortune of $1.2 trillion.
The Waltons come first by a considerable distance. Worth an incredible $152 billion, they are also considered the wealthiest family in the world. The surviving family members inherited their wealth from Bud and Sam Walton who founded Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer with $476 billion in revenue. The Koch family are in second place, worth $89 billion while the Mars family rounds off the top three with a $60 billion fortune.
