Many people from developing economies migrate to other countries to find work and support their families back home.
In 2012, Immigrants living in the United States sent an estimated total of more than $120 billion to friends and family in their home countries according to the World Bank. The biggest share of remittances from the U.S. goes to neighbour country Mexico, followed by China and India. Together these three nation account for roughly 40 percent of remittances sent from the U.S. in 2012.
