Econintersect: According to preliminary 2012 tax data released from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS):
- taxpayers filed 144.9 million U.S. individual income tax returns, a decrease of 0.4 percent from 2011;
- 3.9% decrease from 2011 in the number of returns with an AGI of under $15,000;
- overall Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) increased 9.0 percent from 2011;
