Econintersect: Last week Bill Gates addressed the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC. The format was that of an on-stage interview. The discussion covered topics from the evolving global economy to specific ideas Gates put forward about the U.S. economy. Among the areas touched are the rise of developing countries into the middle class, the damage that an increased minimum wage in the U.S. could do to employment prospects of youth and radical ideas about taxes (the possibility of eliminating the personal income tax and FICA).
