Econintersect: This is somthing that could have been placed on a reading list with a cryptic one-line comment. But it is just too ironic not to give it more prominent posting. Andy Borowitz has done it again with a charming piece in The New Yorker on 20 September 2013 about Republicans in Congress getting their free annual physicals.
Borowitz wrote:
The physicals, part of Congress’s government-subsidized health-care package, yielded good news for many of the House G.O.P., who learned that they were strong and healthy enough for the demanding task of defunding Obamacare.
He also noted that Rep. Eric Cantor said:
… he had lost a few pounds since last year’s physical as he headed to lunch before defunding food stamps.
Borowitz didn’t mention it, but Econintersect assumes that Democrats have also been getting their annual physicals.
