The top of today’s reading list has two articles about the Cyprus crisis …….. and the last article is about bitcoins and a possible bubble.
- Just when you thought it was safe… (The Economist) Cyprus proposal would break the mold. Never before (checking back to 1970) have all depositors of a failed bank lost some share of deposits. Small depositors have previously always had some protection. Now the oligarchy will extract from the poor? (Directly instead of indirectly, which has always been in play.) Note: The settlement just announced does protect the small depositors.
- Repeat After Me, Cyprus Is (Was) Not a Tax Haven (Claudius and Yves Smith, Naked Capitalism)
- With Obama as Broker, Israelis and Turkey End Dispute (Jodi Rudoren and Mark Landler, The New York Times) Hat tip to Sig Silber who says: “Major achievement!“
- Louie Gohmert unable to understand Google ads (Jillian Rayfield, Salon) Hat tip to Roger Erickson.
- The Fed Is Printing Money, But Where Is It Going? They Know But Will Not Say (Jesse’s Cafe Americaine)

- BRICS leaders to launch development bank (AFP, Hindustan Times) Hat tip to Sanjeev Kulkarni.
- The Mother of All Demos, presented by Douglas Engelbart (1968) (Lambert Strether, Naked Capitalism) Just 45 years ago this presentation was like science fiction.
- Gen. Stubblebine on 9/11 -“OH MY GOD!!!!” (Charles Ewing Smith, YouTube) This is a video that only 707 people have viewed at the time this is written. Is it credible? There are websites presenting similar views as well, see here and here.
