The Chinese yuan renminbi has appreciated against the dollar by 3.2% since June and 2.6% over the past 12 months. These numbers are similar to the compounded annual appreciation over the past six years of 3.0%. The exchange rate in early 2005 was 8.28 renminbi to the dollar. Today the rate is 6.65.
